Re-Ordering Your Compounded Medications
-
What is Pharmaceutical Compounding?Pharmaceutical compounding is the process of preparing personalized medications by combining, mixing, or altering ingredients to create a medication tailored to the specific needs of a patient. This is often done when a drug is not commercially available, or when available drugs do not meet a patient's needs, such as in cases where a patient requires a different dosage form (e.g., liquid instead of a pill) or has allergies to certain ingredients.

What Types of Medications Can be Compounded?Medications can be compounded in the following formats: Topical Creams, Ointments, & Lotions Capsules Slow-Release Capsules Oral Suspensions Suppositories Troches Rapid-Dissolve Tablets

Is Compounded Medication Safe?Paragon Compounding Centre operates in a state of the art facility that meets or exceeds all provincial and federal guidelines for non sterile compounding. The National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) guidelines ensure compounders meet standards for purity and potency.
-
How Should I Store My Compounded Medications?Like any medication, most compounds can be stored at room temperature. Some compounds require special storage, such as refrigeration. If there are any special storage instructions pertaining to your compound, they will be indicated on your prescription bottle.
-
Can You Bill Compounds to My Insurance?Yes, in some cases. Certain insurance plans allow for direct billing for compounds, while others may not. In instances where we can't bill directly to your insurance, we will provide you with a mixture breakdown so that you are able to manually submit the claim to your insurance plan. For these instances, you will have to pay the pharmacy in full and submit your prescription to your insurance for approval and reimbursement.

Why is Compounding Necessary?Compounding allows us to tailor your medication to your specific needs and treatment plan.
